Newspaper owner happy with Kgothule defamation judgment.
Bloemfontein – The owner of The Weekly Newspaper, Tumi Ntsele, is pleased with the judge’s ruling in the defamation of character case brought against the newspaper by former Free State MEC for Sport, Arts and Culture, Dan Kgothule.
The case dismissed with costs in the Bloemfontein High Court on Thursday.
Kgothule sued the publication for R250 000 after it published an article in August 2010, during his term, claiming among others that senior staff complained about his behaviour; that Macufe showed no profit under his leadership and that Pacofs was in chaos.
Ntsele’s lawyer, Barry Jones, says from the beginning of the trial they maintained that the article was responsible reporting.
